How connecting works
You connect a WordPress site with its address, your username there and an application password, which you create under Users, Profile, Application Passwords. This works on any self-hosted install or host that supports application passwords.
SPREVA never sees your account password, only the application password you create for it, and it needs a user WordPress lets publish posts, Author or higher. Revoke the application password in WordPress and connect a new one whenever you like.
What SPREVA adds
No double posts after a timeout
If WordPress's answer gets lost on the way back, SPREVA looks at the site for the post it just made before trying again, so a retry does not publish it twice.
Your site's own categories and tags
Choose from the categories and tags already on your site. Add a new one on WordPress and it is here the next time you write a post.
Excerpt, address and featured image
Add a short excerpt, choose the post's own web address instead of leaving WordPress to build one from the title, and pick which image becomes the featured image.
Alt text from your library
The description saved on an image in Media goes out as its alt text on WordPress.
And as on every network: its own text for any account, an approximate preview, publishing now, on a date or through a queue, and a retry for only the accounts that failed.

Can I schedule WordPress posts?

Does SPREVA work with any WordPress site?
Any self-hosted site or host that supports application passwords, reachable at a public address. Create one there under Users, Profile, Application Passwords, and connect with your username and that password.
Where do the categories and tags in the editor come from?
From your site itself. SPREVA reads them again each time you write a post, so a category you just added on WordPress is there without reconnecting.
Can I choose the featured image?
Yes, when the post has more than one image. Pick which one becomes the featured image; with just one image, it is used automatically.
