How to schedule Discord announcements and messages

Discord is built for talking now. Writing a message today so it appears on Friday at nine usually means an alarm and a sticky note. This is how to schedule announcements, messages and forum posts instead, and how to keep a scheduled message from pinging the whole server by mistake.

The short version

Add SPREVA's bot to your server when you connect Discord, pick the channel (a text, announcement or forum channel), write up to 2,000 characters with up to 10 files, and schedule it or add it to a queue. Mentions stay off unless you turn them on for that message. In an announcement channel, SPREVA can also crosspost it to the servers that follow yours.

Two ways to connect

Choose the one your server is comfortable with:

  • SPREVA's bot, added to your server when you connect. It posts in the text, announcement and forum channels it can see, and you pick the channel for each post.
  • A channel webhook, if you would rather not add a bot. Paste the webhook's address and SPREVA posts to that one channel, under the webhook's own name and picture.

Either way, SPREVA never sees your Discord password.

Scheduling a message, step by step

  1. 1

Connect Discord and add SPREVA's bot to your server.

  2. 2

Press New in the sidebar, choose Post, then Text Post, Image Post or Video Post, and pick your Discord server.

  3. 3

In the Discord settings, choose the channel: a text channel, an announcement channel or a forum.

  4. 4

Write up to 2,000 characters and add up to 10 files: images, videos or documents.

  5. 5

Turn on mentions only if this message needs them: @everyone and @here, roles, or people.

  6. 6

Schedule it, or Add to queue.

No accidental @everyone

A scheduled message that pings five thousand people at three in the morning is how a community loses its patience. In SPREVA, mentions are off unless you turn them on for that one message, even mentions of a single person: the name still shows in the text, but nobody is notified. Turn on @everyone and @here, roles or people only for the announcement that deserves it.

Forums and announcement channels

In a forum channel, SPREVA starts a new post named after the post's title, up to 100 characters, with your message as its first message.

In an announcement channel, turn on Crosspost to following servers and the message also goes out to every server that follows your channel. If the crosspost fails, the message stays posted in your server and you are told.

Files and their limits

Each message takes up to 10 files of up to 20 MB each, more on a server with boosts: SPREVA reads your server's boost level and checks every file before it goes. Pictures carry the alt text you wrote for them in your library.

When the bot cannot post

If the bot has lost permission in a channel, or has been removed from the server, the post says so in plain words: give it access again or pick another channel, then retry. Posts to your other accounts go out as planned. And if Discord is slow to answer, SPREVA checks the channel before trying again, so a retry does not send the message twice.

One announcement, everywhere

The same announcement can go to Discord, X, Bluesky and your other accounts in one post, each with its own text under Per account: the full version for your community, a shorter one for X. Each server you connect is an account of its own, so a post can reach several servers at once, one channel in each.

Schedule next week's announcements

Connect your server, write next week's announcements and add them to a queue, with mentions on only where they matter. Every plan starts with a 7-day trial.

Questions

Can I schedule Discord messages?

Yes. Publish now, choose a date and time, or add the message to a queue that fills your next free slot. SPREVA sends it at that time by itself, so nothing has to stay open on your computer.

Can SPREVA post to a Discord forum channel?

Yes. Choose the forum channel and give the post a title; SPREVA starts a new post there named after it.

How does SPREVA connect to my Discord server?

You add SPREVA's bot to the server when you connect, with permission to post, attach files and read the channels you choose. Or paste a channel webhook instead. SPREVA never sees your Discord password.

Can I edit a message after it has been sent?

Not from SPREVA. Once a message is in the channel, edit it in Discord.

Does SPREVA show how a Discord message did?

No. For Discord, SPREVA shows whether each message went out, not how many people read it.
