How to promote a podcast on social media: a week of clips from every episode

A podcast is an hour of good conversation that almost nobody finds by scrolling. The way in is the minute that makes someone stop: an opinion, a story, an answer. This is how to turn every episode into a week of short clips, where to post them, and how to cut and schedule them in one sitting.

The short version

Record the episode on video, even with one camera. Find the five or six moments that work on their own, cut each into a vertical clip with captions, and post one a day through the week to YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Reels and, for a business podcast, LinkedIn. Announce the episode itself with a link on X, Threads and Bluesky. In SPREVA, Studio finds the moments, cuts them on whole sentences with captions, and a queue spreads them through the week.

Where each piece goes

One episode feeds three kinds of post:

WhereWhat to postWhy
YouTube Shorts, TikTok, ReelsA vertical clip of 30 to 60 seconds, one a dayWhere new listeners find a voice they did not know
LinkedInThe clip with the lesson, and two lines on why it mattersFor a podcast about work, the audience that already cares
X, Threads, BlueskyThe release, a quote and the link to the episodeWhere the people who already listen hear it is out

Which moments to cut

A clip has to work without the hour around it. Look for:

  • A strong opinion, said plainly, that someone will want to agree or argue with.
  • A story with an ending, short enough to finish inside the clip.
  • An answer to a question people ask, the kind someone types into a search box.
  • A first sentence that stands alone. The first two seconds decide whether anyone stays, so start on the line, not the run-up.

From the episode to the clips

In SPREVA this is one page, Clips from a video, in Studio and in the New menu:

  1. 1

Upload the episode's video to the media library, up to 1 GB. What is said is written down as it arrives.

  2. 2

Choose the video and a layout. For a conversation, adjust the areas so both people are in view, and save it as your layout for the next episode.

  3. 3

Ask for the moments: how many, up to 10, and what to look for in the instructions, like “the strongest opinion” or “the best advice”. Each moment starts and ends on a whole sentence; keep, move or drop any of them.

  4. 4

Create the clips. Each one is its own 9:16 project with captions, word by word with the spoken word picked out, in a folder named after the episode's video.

  5. 5

Export them and they land in your library, ready to post.

A week from one episode

A rhythm that keeps the show in front of people between releases:

  • Release day: the announcement on X, Threads and Bluesky, with a quote and the link, and the strongest clip everywhere vertical video goes.
  • Day two: the story clip.
  • Day three: the practical answer, on LinkedIn as well if the show is about work.
  • Day four: the opinion clip, the one that starts the comments.
  • Day five: one more clip, and a reminder of where to listen.

Captions and words

Many people scroll with the sound off, so the captions carry the clip; in Studio they are on by default. For the post itself, the best text is often one line from the clip, the one that made you pick it. Write it once, and let the assistant shorten it or adapt it for each network under Per account.

Bring your guests in

A guest is the best channel an episode has. When their clip goes out, send them the link so they can share it with their own audience, and mention them by name in the post. Their listeners are the ones most likely to become yours.

What to measure

In Analytics, look at Best content once a week: which kind of moment travels, and on which network. Listens stay with your podcast host, so compare the two over a month, not a day. When one kind of clip keeps winning, ask Studio for more of it in the instructions.

Clip your last episode

Upload last week's episode, ask for five moments, and queue the clips for the week. Clips from a video is part of Studio, on Pro and Business; every plan starts with a 7-day trial. How to cut a podcast or a stream into clips for TikTok and Shorts.

Questions

Can I make clips from an audio-only podcast?

Not yet. Clips are made from a video of the episode; a single camera on the conversation is enough.

How long can the episode be?

The file can be up to 1 GB. A long episode in high resolution can be larger, so export it smaller or in parts before you upload it.

Which plan do I need?

Clips from a video is part of Studio, on Pro and Business. Pro includes 120 minutes of exported video a month and Business 400.

Does SPREVA publish the episode to Spotify or Apple Podcasts?

No. SPREVA publishes the clips and the posts around the episode; the episode itself stays with your podcast host.

Does it work for a podcast that is not in English?

Yes. The language spoken is recognised on its own, and the captions are written in it.
